25 Weeks
December 31-January 6, 2008
Wow, it's been a while since I've last updated. Honestly, there hasn't been much new to say until now. Physically, I am still feeling very good. It is strange to watch my belly continue to grow, I look down every day and still can't believe what I see. I can't imagine what it will look like several weeks from now. I guess I am starting to "feel" being pregnant, too. The other night, Jon and I went out to eat and to a movie. For the first time, I felt my ribs poking into my stomach and I felt like all of my organs were being squished. I was squirming around the whole time at the movie to try and get comfortable. Of course, once my ribs were out of my stomach, it hurt my back to sit that way. It's a good thing that this has only happened once so far. I'm sure the day that this happens all the time is only right around the corner.
I'm about 99% sure of the name we're giving the baby, I think it's going to be Julia. I had a couple of other names that I liked, but of course Jon didn't, and vice versa. Julia seems to be the one we both agree upon. We both really like the name, it is pretty and traditional, but yet a little different. It is not one you hear too often anymore. We have been calling her Julia, and Jon keeps singing "Julia" by the Beatles, so I think it has stuck! We aren't sure of a middle name yet, we are back to disagreeing on just about every name the other person comes up with! Jon likes Julia Mae, but I think it sounds like we live in Louisina or Georgia (no offense to you Atlanta folks!) Just try and say it with a southern accent, I'm not sure I can go with that one.
So the biggest thing now in the pregnancy is how much Julia is moving. She moves, kicks, punches, and I think is doing sommersaults several times a day. She is especially busy at night when I lay down to go to sleep. The other night I actually saw my stomach move for the first time, talk about weird! Jon has only felt her a couple of times, by the time he gets his hand on my stomach, it is too late. Her movements usually come in short spurts. I'm sure it won't be long, though, when he will have no trouble feeling her move.
I had another OB appointment on Thursday. I had the glucose tolerance test, and had to drink the nasty lime flavored drink. It tasted like flat, syrupy Sprite. Not good. My glucose level was normal, so I don't have gestational diabetes, that was good news! The not so fun part of the appointment was watching the numbers on the scale continue to go up. I gained 7 pounds in 4 weeks! I told my doctor that it wasn't fair to weigh women right after the holidays. That put me up to 11 pounds so far in weight gain. I know I'm going to continue to gain weight, I just hope it doesn't continue at the rate of 7 pounds every 4 weeks, or you'll have to roll me out of the house!
It is hard to believe I am only a couple of weeks from starting my third trimester. The pregnancy continues to fly by! We have a ton of work to do in the upcoming weeks. Now that the holidays are over, it is time to get the nursery ready. I think we will painting in the next week or so. We went looking at cribs this weekend, and I think we've picked one out. It will be so fun to decorate and organize the room. I only have a few outfits hanging in the closet so far, and I already love going in there just to look at them. I can't imagine how much I'll be in the nursery, just to look and take it all in, once it is finished.
We have our first of several prenatal classes this next week. Those should make for some good stories. I'm not quite sure what to expect. I'm sure it will be fun meeting other couples going through the same things we are right now. There will be no lack of things to talk about, that's for sure!
I'm due for some new belly pictures, hopefully I take some and get them posted this week.
