Two weeks old...
May 2, 2008
At the big age of 2 weeks, Julia is certainly showing signs of getting older. The biggest event of the week was when her cord stump fell off last Saturday. Bye bye sponge baths, hello bathtub! Although, we have yet to actually use her bathtub. Julia has finally gotten used to sponge baths, I'm afraid of the screams we'll likely have for the first few big girl baths!
Julia continues to breast feed very well. I am curious what her weight is now (our next appointment is in 2 weeks). She is still in preemie size clothes, but she looks like she is starting to fill out, especially in her cheeks and thighs. She also continues to sleep well, giving us 3-4 hour stretches overnight, with usually about 3 hour naps during the day. Julia is having more and more awake times, and not just eating when she's awake! She is a very good baby thus far, and is rarely fussy unless she's hungry. Julia loves to look at our faces and tries to imitate our facial expressions. Julia has been enjoying some more tummy time, and is getting very good at lifting her neck to turn her head from one side to the other. She has also discovered her crib mobile this week, and will watch and study it for the whole 10 minutes the music plays and the mobile turns.
We had a visit from Grandma Laurie this past week, she traveled all the way from Atlanta to meet Julia for the first time. I don't know how it happened, but we managed to go the whole weekend without getting any pictures with Grandma. She'll just have to come back soon so we can take some of pictures!

Jon's trying to get Julia to lift her head and turn it towards him. Notice Biscuit in the background, completely oblivious of what's going on!

That was a lot of work!

Julia likes laying in her crib and watching the mobile go round and round. |
Watching very intently!
