Julia is 2 months old!

June 13, 2008

At 2 months, Julia weighed 9 pounds and 9 ounces, was 21 3/4 inches long, and had an OFC of 38 cm. All of these plot out at about the 40th percentile, and putting her weight for length at the 50th percentile. She is having no problem gaining weight and you can really see the difference in her, she actually has chubby cheeks and thighs now!

It seems like we can see little changes in Julia every day. She is more alert and active, and she is smiling all of the time. She is not quite giggling yet, but she makes this high pitched noise and kicks her legs when she gets excited. She loves her activity mat, and will lay there for a half an hour just watching the toys, screaching and kicking her legs. It is so fun to watch!

Julia gets this inquisitive look on her face, it is like you can see you little brain working, just taking in all of her surroundings. She hates being held "like a baby" in your arms unless she is really sleepy. She would much rather be sitting in your lap or being held upright so she can see out. She did not like the Baby Bijorn the first time I put her in it because she had to face me and she couldn't see out. We'll have to try it again when she's big enough to support her head and we can turn her around so she can face out. I have a sling that I carry her in, she loves this, her head is supported while she is upright and can see out, and she can also "lay" down in it so she can nap. This was a great purchase, it has been great to carry her while having 2 hands free to do things around the house or throw a ball to Biscuit. I took her to the Strawberry and the Italian Festivals in the sling, it was so much easier than to have a bulky stroller in a crowded area. Jon thinks I look like an African mommy when I wear the sling, and I should be fetching water in a bowl and carrying it on my head.

Julia finally loves bathtime. She did not like it at first because she hated being cold. So we ditched the sling that came with the bathtub and now sit her directly in the water. She loves this, she smiles so big when you pour the warm water over her and sing bathtime songs. She still cries when you take her out until you get her wrapped tight in the towel. I'm telling you, she hates being cold, just like her mommy!

Julia is eating about every 3-4 hours during the day and is sleeping 5-7 hours at a time at night! She slept for 6 hours straight one night at the lake over Memorial Day weekend, and has not gone back since. Last weekend at the lake, she slept for 7 1/2 hours, there must be something about that fresh, country air! I consider us to be very lucky that Julia is sleeping so well at such a young age. Our doctor says it is about 4 months when babies start to become more interested in her surroundings and learn that you come when they cry, and that this is when they may resist going down to sleep, so hopefully she'll continue her good habits as she gets older.

Some pictures of Julia at 2 months (more to come)...

Julia in her favorite spot, checking out Mr. Giraffe and The Monkey. Poor girl had to get her 2 month vaccines and had 4 bandaids on her little legs.

My friend, Jenny, gave Julia this t-shirt. I think it's hilarious!

Check out those chubby cheeks!

Julia enjoying her puppy bouncy seat. This was a gift from her Great Uncle Pete, Great Aunt Kathy, and cousins Juliet and Monica. She loves this thing! She laughs, squeals, and kicks her legs when the puppy is moving and playing music. Thanks guys!
