Three weeks old...
May 4-10, 2008
It is hard to believe that Julia has been here for 3 weeks already. These have been a great few weeks so far, I love being at home taking care of her. Going back to work is going to be very difficult, but I'm not going to go there! We are having a great time, and it doesn't hurt that the weather has been beautiful. We try to get out for a walk or to run an errand at least once a day. We are getting very good use out of our stroller, and Julia naps very well in it. Jon made fun of me last fall when I spent hours researching strollers, wanting to make sure I bought the best one. Now I'm glad I did, I love our stroller! It has about 10 different positions/functions, and it is working great for us so far. This week, we took a long walk and visited daddy at work, we went to the post office, we shopped on Mass Ave, and even took trip to Circle Center to do a little more shopping (Julia's going to have the shopping habit down before I go back to work for sure!) We also voted this week in the primary election, that was a big deal here in Indiana this week. How cool that the year Julia was born there is potential for a woman or a black man to be president. The times, they are a changin'!
Julia continues to be a very good baby. It has been so fun to play with her now that she is staying awake for longer periods of time. She is giving us up to an hour of awake time a couple of times a day before she gets hungry and starts fussing. Luckily these awake time have been during the day, night time continues to be only for sleeping and eating. It's funny, though, when you put Julia in her pack 'n play to go back to sleep, she grunts and stretches her arms and legs for about 5 minutes until she finds her comfy spot, then she's out cold!
Julia hasn't been weighed in about 2 weeks. Her last weight was 6 pounds 7 ounces on April 25th, she successfully regained and surpassed her birth weight in less than 2 weeks. We go this week on the 15th for a weight check and her 1 month Hep B immunization. I'm so curious to see how much she weighs, I'm guessing around 7 pounds now. Based on her goal of gaining about 1/2 to 1 ounce per day, she should weigh 7 pounds and 1 to 11 ounces when she gets weighed on Thursday. Besides the fact that I'm her mom, I'm a pediatric dietitian, so I'm allowed to obsess about her weight gain! I can tell she's getting bigger, you can definitely see her cheeks and thighs getting a little chubbier. She is slowly starting to be able to wear some of her 0-3 month clothes now. Don't get me wrong, they are still a little big, but definitely wearable! I took some pictures of her in one of her cute spring outfits (0-3 months!), and captured so many fun faces. This week, we also had our first all day outing with Julia. On Saturday, we attended the WEDDING of Jon's cousin, Cortneigh, and her new husband, Matt.
