6 Weeks Brings Big Changes
May 25-31, 2008
We have noticed some big changes in Julia over the past week. It has been so fun to watch her personality develop and to grow and get stronger. Here is Julia at 6 weeks...
- She stays awake for longer periods of time more and more each day. We are slowly getting to the point where she is awake longer than she sleeps, and she takes some shorter naps during the day rather than a full blown 3 hours.
-She has started to smile when you smile or laugh at her, not every time, but it won't be long before she's smiling more purposefully and on demand.
-She loves sitting and napping in her "boppy" pillow.
-She continues to eat very well. She eats every 2-4 hours during the day and 3 1/2-4 1/2 hours at night. She even slept for 6 hours 3 nights ago! She hasn't done it again, but at least we know there is potential.
-She is still gaining weight very well. Julia is officially out of her preemie sizes and fitting very well into her 0-3 month clothes. This is very exciting, she has some adorable summer outfits!
-We went to Riley yesterday to visit and show her off to my coworkers. I weighed her while we were there and she was 8 pounds and 14 ounces. I can't believe she's almost 9 pounds! I know some babies are born this big, but this is big progress for Julia.
-Julia loves spending time on her Tiny Love Land activity mat. She is amazed at looking at herself in the mirror. She can't purposefully bat at the toys yet, but she gets so excited and kicks her legs and makes lots of cute baby noises.
-She is really starting to become more vocal, she coos and makes all sorts of fun sounds. I can't wait until she starts giggling.
-She is starting to track objects and noises, she will turn her head if you play music or shake a toy to the side of her.
-Julia loves ceiling fans! She would stare at one all day long if she could.
-She has a double chin and is working on three.
-Julia has kept all of her hair, it remains pretty dark brown and it getting a little long in the back. Her eyes are still blue. I wonder if either of these are still going to change.
-She has discovered her fingers, she will sometimes suck on her thumb or pointer finger.
-Best of all, Julia continues to be a very good baby. She cries when she is hungry, has to burp, or has a dirty diaper. Sometimes she'll fuss when she's really tired. That is about it! I am starting to learn these different cries which makes calming her much easier. You certainly can't mistake her hunger cry. She must take after her mommy, I get crabby and fussy when I'm hungry, too.
More pictures... Enjoy!
