Memorial Day Weekend, 2008
May 23-26 , 2008
Julia spent her first of many weekends at Grandview Lake over Memorial Day weekend this year. This was our first overnight trip with Julia, so packing at first was a little daunting. You never know what you are going to need with an infant. I wanted to pack everything I would need, but not pack too much (an oxymoron, maybe?) We did have to take 2 cars; with Biscuit, Jon's golf clubs, the pack n' play, car seat, stroller, and our bags, there just wasn't room in one of our cars. We managed to get everything we needed to the lake, with only a few extra things that we really didn't use. Oh well, at least it was a learning experience and we'll know better next time.
Jon's brother and his family (Jeff, Katie, Jessica, Nicholas, and Jack) from Atlanta made the road trip to the lake for the weekend. We were lucky we had nice weather, because it would have been a madhouse if we were all cooped up in the house for the weekend. Just imagine... 5 adults, 4 small (but loud!) children, and a dog trapped in a not very large house. All I have to say is thank goodness we had warm weather and sunshine! The kids had fun fishing, playing corn hole, spending time in their new playroom Grandpa Rich made for them, and most of all training Biscuit. The adults enjoyed the boat rides and afternoon cocktails by the water, and of course, listening to Jeff's stories and jokes after a few of these cocktails. When you put the Tito in, you never know what's going to come out!
We had a very nice weekend spending time with family and hanging out with the neighbors, like always. I am very disappointed, though. It wasn't until I got home that I realized that I didn't take one picture of Jack, Jeff, or Katie the entire weekend we were there. We have so many pictures of everyone else (including Biscuit!), and I can't believe I managed the whole weekend without pictures of everyone. Especially Jack, he is such a little ham and so cute. He may be the biggest 9 month old I've seen! I will do a better job of including everyone next time!
Nicholas playing corn hole with the big boys. I think playing with the swimmers is the secret to the perfect loft!

This was a much easier way to score!

Biscuit followed Jessica everywhere this weekend!

The Grandview dogs... this is Daisy from the gray house,

Tucker, also from the gray house ,

and, of course, Biscuit. Missing is the new Hass family puppy, Juno. We will miss Maddie and Lucy at the lake this year!

If you look closely, you can see a fish on the ground. He committed suicide from the bucket he was living in. This was the first fish caught by uncle Jon and Jessica.

Biscuit was just waiting for a fish to be caught so he could jump in the water after it! |
Jessica got some fishing pointers from uncle Jon

Biscuit's favorite thing to do in the whole world... He will bring the tennis ball up 3 levels of deck and put it through the slats of the gate. He will wait there until someone throws the ball into the lake. He will run all the way down, fetch the ball out of the water, and run all the way back up to the top level and do it all over again. You would think he would get tired of this, especially considering he has about 100 stairs to run up, but he doesn't. He will do this until someone won't throw the ball anymore. It is very funny to watch!
