Happy Halloween!
October 31, 2008
I really wasn't going to make a big deal about Julia's first halloween. It's not like she was going to be out trick or treating and eating a ton of candy, and I certainly wasn't going to spend a lot of money on a costume. In fact, I hadn't planned on putting her in any costume at all... until I overheard one of the teachers at daycare talking about how cute the babies' costumes always are on halloween. You mean people actually dress up their babies to go to daycare?? Now I was in panic mode, it was the evening of October 30th and I hadn't planned on putting Julia in a costume thus far, and now even if I wanted to, I probably couldn't buy one (let alone have the time to make one!) anyway. But she couldn't be the only baby not dressed up! I imagine this is what it will feel like 10 years from now when it is 9 o'clock the night before Julia needs 6 dozen cookies for school the next day. I better get used to it. So, I quickly came up with a "costume" with items we had around the house, so, Julia was a princess/ballerina for her very first halloween. And, I must say, was the cutest baby at daycare!
A couple pictures before school. Julia doesn't always make it through the day in one outfit, I wanted to make sure we got at least one picture of her in her halloween costume! |
Halloween also marked a big milestone for Julia. This was the first day that she reallly sat up on her own for a significant amount of time without any help. |

Just the day before, she could not do this! It's amazing how babies literally learn to do things overnight.

Halloween was a really warm day this year, that's why Julia is sitting outside without a coat and hat. I think it was about 70 degrees that day. We were taking advantage of the warm evening in our courtyard, and of course showing off her cute outfit to the neighbors! |

Julia loves the Biscuit Man. She looks like she's leaning in to give him a big hug and a kiss! |
