28 Weeks - Officially in the Third Trimester!
January 21-27, 2008
Now that I am in the third trimester, I thought I would share some random facts or thoughts that reflect my pregnancy up to this point. I know things are going to change rapidly from now on, so I'd like to document just how things are now. Plus, it will be funny to look back and read what things were like being 28 weeks pregnant. Now I warn you, some of these may fall into the "TMI" category, so if you don't feel like you need to know some of the gross, personal details of my pregnancy, you may want to skip this one!
- I am still feeling great at this point. I have gained about 15 pounds so far, at least as of my last doctor's appointment. I'm sure that number will be higher at next week's OB appointment.
- As of yet, I have no stretch marks, swelling, or big ankles. I hate to even say it out loud, I don't want to jinx myself. Also, my belly button has yet to pop out, but I think that is just a matter of days!
- My sweet cravings have returned, and with a vengeance! I crave sweets on a daily basis when I'm not pregnant, but the cravings actually went away for about the first 4 months of my pregnancy. Well... they're back! I have been eating chocolate ice cream at least once a day with the occasional cookie or hot fudge sundae at work. Jon loves my random cookie or candy purchases at the store. Yesterday, I bought a jar of caramel sauce with vanilla ice cream, I think I'll switch it up from the chocolate for a while!
- OK, not fun, the unexpected gas that likes to appear in public places. I'm telling you, it just comes out of nowhere. At least no one one has noticed it (not yet anyway!)
- Again, not fun, I sometimes pee a little when I sneeze or laugh really hard. Jon thinks this is hilarious, but squirms when I tell him about it. I'm sorry to share, but it's true!
- I'm still playing tennis. It is actually easier now than it was about 3 months ago. I initially had a hard time, I felt like I was constantly out of breath. My body must have gotten used to the extra blood volume and need for oxygen. So far, my growing belly hasn't been too intrusive for tennis. I am just not able to move as fast as usual, but that's okay for playing doubles, singles has been out of the question for a while now.
- I have to pee all of the time. I learn where all of the bathrooms are everywhere I go. The most frustrating part is when I feel like I really have to pee and then only a little comes out, or when I feel like I have to go about 5 minutes after I just went!
- Julia is moving all of the time. She moves a lot after I eat. Just like mommy, she loves her food! She will move off and on during the day, but her most active time is in the evening, especially when I'm laying on the couch or in bed. The strangest part is looking down and seeing my stomach move. It is still crazy to me that there is someone living and moving inside of me!
- We started taking our baby classes. We are in the midst of the 4 week labor and delivery class. This class deserves its own entry. Jane, our teacher, is hilarious and made the class very entertaining! We are also taking an additional labor support class, baby care, and a breastfeeding classes. More to come...
