No More Glasses for Jon!

November 30, 2007

Jon has been researching lasik surgery for several months and he finally took the plunge. He has worn glasses since the fifth grade, and could not wait to get rid of them. Although they are a fantastic accessory, he claims it will be wonderful to wake up in the middle of the night and be ale to see the clock, be able to play tennis and golf without glasses, and finally be able to buy regular, non-prescription sunglasses. I can totally see his point, but I have to say, I will miss Jon without his glasses. I will miss his black glasses the most, these are the glasses he wore when we got married, and I think he looks great in them. He's going to replace the lenses with non-prescription ones so he can still wear the glasses.

I have to admit, the process of the surgery was amazing. From the original consult and testing to the final surgery and recovery, everything went very smoothly and quick! Jon had surgery Friday afternoon, slept most of the evening, and could see just about perfectly without glasses by Saturday morning. Other than the annoying eye drops he had to use every 2 hours, the recovery was easy and painless. The best part was the goggles he was supposed to wear to sleep in so he didn't accidentally rub his eyes, these were hot! I think Jon actually liked wearing these, he thought he looked cool in them!
